A sharp knife is all I need
I hate weighing myself.
This time was worse than I had thought. I had put on 15 lbs in a month.
Work had been busy, and I had over-indulged in takeout meals and Boba teas the whole month.
I like the convenience of ordering meals online, but the food is often cold, greasy and unhealthy.
Take the Thai Basil eggplant tofu I ordered. Two small pieces of tofu nestled among giant, greasy chunks of bell pepper and soggy eggplant. The vegetables were hardly recognizable, drowned in oil and cut into awkward pieces. Not the dish I knew and loved.
One of the many food culprits in my weight gain journey.
But, what could I do now?
Here was the general plan: do some research and then call a cousin who is a plastic surgeon, over the weekend. A knife was all I needed.
Over the weekend, I started with research on liposuction. Liposuction is a type of surgery using suction to remove fat from specific areas of the body. Liposuction also shapes these areas. That process is called contouring.
I was going to call my cousin after a quick trip to the local farmer’s market.
I love farmer’s markets.
Our farmer’s market in Northern California is a delight to visit, especially in the summer months. Vegetables burst with color. Glossy red tomatoes sit next to orange carrots with feathery heads. Golden bell peppers and deep purple eggplants shine together. Crisp leafy greens, Swiss chard and kale overflow in verdant hues. Each vegetable is alive with the spirit of the soil, making the market feel like a true harvest celebration.
I came back home with a big bag of fresh produce - broccoli, peppers, onions, carrots and onions.
I now needed a knife to cut my vegetables. Where was it? I only had one blunt knife in my kitchen drawer.
And then it hit me. I needed a sharp knife. But not in the way I had imagined.
I ran to my computer and asked ChatGPT for chef knife recommendations. I got recommendations for VG 10 knives like Tojiro and Miyabi and other budget knives like Wüsthof and Victorinox.
I settled on a budget knife and ordered it online.
The knife arrived in 2 days. It is sharp and lets me take control of my meals, and cook with precision and care.
I love the rhythm of that sharp knife as it slices through vibrant green peppers, crisp carrots, and fresh broccoli. The satisfying sound of each cut is perfectly timed to the beat of my favorite song playing in the background.
A sharp knife was all I needed to bring joy back into my kitchen and my life.
I cannot help but think about how a simple knife could transform my life. It’s not just about the tool itself, but what it represents.
I am ready to ditch the takeout habit and rediscover the joy of cooking. All I was missing was that sharp knife.
A sharp knife is all I will need for weight loss. And maybe, a little practice!
